Dear Friends:

On August 18^th, the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and California Volunteers will host a conference in Sacramento, California, designed to highlight and strengthen the role of faith-based and community organizations in meeting the needs of their communities with a special focus on resources and partnership opportunities.  This event will provide resources and training on a variety of topics including volunteer trends and management, disaster preparedness and response, crime prevention/intervention, prisoner reentry, accessing private, State and Federal resources, and more.

This event is part of a series of regional conferences hosted by the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives across the country and around the world.  These events are designed to connect frontline nonprofit organizations with resources to help strengthen and expand the services they offer and facilitate opportunities to network with community partners and government officials.  Breakout sessions will feature information on State and Federal grants and practical guidance on the grant-writing process; opportunities for non-financial collaboration between government and nonprofit programs; and successful practices of effective human service organizations. 

The conference is free, but pre-registration is required.  Registration is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please register online at www.fbci.gov by Friday, August 8^th.  While online registration is strongly encouraged, those who are unable to register online may print and complete the attached form and fax it to 703-299-4589.  If you are not able to view this file, please call 202-456-6708 to have a form faxed to you.  To cancel a registration, please send an email to fbci@dtihq.com or a fax to the number listed above so we may accommodate as many people as possible.
